Made of Tuftec, a 9-Ply exterior birch plywood so it won't break, warp, or crack - even in adverse weather conditions. This lighthouse is very strong so that it will not warp even in the harshest weather conditions. After it is hand built it is then primed and painted with an exterior paint that will handle the elements. Our lighthouses come standard with an electric plug in light, however, you may upgrade to a Solar Light, Flashing Light, Rotating Light or Strobe Light. Use the drop down menu to make your selection.
About The Original Montauk Lighthouse:
The fourth oldest, still active lighthouse in the United States, this 110 foot lighthouse is constructed of sandstone. Its light flashes every 5 seconds and can be see for a distance of 18 nautical miles. The lighthouse was originally built in 1796 but has undergone several renovations. In 1860 two new levels and a larger lantern were added and in 1899, the brown stripe was added to what had been an all white tower.
