Made of Tuftec, a 9-Ply exterior birch plywood so it won't break, warp, or crack - even in adverse weather conditions. This lighthouse is very strong so that it will not warp even in the harshest weather conditions. After it is hand built it is then primed and painted with an exterior paint that will handle the elements. Our lighthouses come standard with an electric plug in light, however, you may upgrade to a Solar Light, Flashing Light, Rotating Light or Strobe Light. Use the drop down menu to make your selection.
About The Original Tybee Island Lighthouse:
Located on Tybee Island in Georgia, this lighthouse sits at the mouth of the Savannah River. The first tower at this location was built in 1736. Five years later it was destroyed by a vicious storm. In 1742 the second tower was built and in 1773 a third tower was built which was destroyed in 1862 by Confederate troops. Sixty foot of the third tower remained which served as a rebuilding point for the current tower that stands 154 feet tall.
